TWTC offers a wide range of coaching for members, from Mini Red right through to performance; sessions are taken by an LTA qualified coach and run to no more than eight juniors to each coach. Sessions are designed to give our juniors as much fun as possible whilst still learning key elements of each session. To help you select the right sessions please see the squads that are available and the times they run below.
Whether you are new to tennis with little experience, have a sound background but haven’t played for a while or even a competent player with matchplay experience then there are opportunities for you to develop your game and enhance your skills at your own pace. We have evening term-time courses for all ability levels and even a coffee morning. Membership is required for ongoing coaching
Ron Marshall believes junior tennis is one of the most important areas of a CASC club making sure that all our juniors have appropriate coaching and are able to enjoy themselves and thrive at TWTC is his responsibility.
He has been able to put in place a wide-ranging structure that guides our juniors through all levels of tennis, from the 4 year old with no tennis experience right through to our 17-year-old elite players.
For racquets and other tennis equipment we recommend Tennis Nuts or Tennis Point.
For typical adult male our coach recommends:
- 5-12pts Headlight,
- 16×19 string pattern
- 95-100 sq”
For a typical adult female:
- 3-8 pts Headlight
- 16×19 string pattern (or the next loosest you can find).
- 95-105 sq”
Stiffness to personal preference but try stiffer rackets with softer strings if you’ve got the chance. For more information on which strings to try this tennis string guide from perfect tennis has covered all the different types available and their properties. We recommend starting with Prince synthetic gut to get a feel for what you like.
